Should You Try Eyebrow Threading?

Have you ever heard of or tried eyebrow threading? It is an ancient Indian hair removal technique, which involves twisting cotton to remove stray hairs around your eyebrows. So, if you’ve been interested in trying eyebrow threading, but don’t know what to expect, we break it down for you:

  1. Does it hurt? Well, yes, but not too bad. It does depend on your pain tolerance, but most people say it feels like tweezing multiple hairs at once. Try popping an ibuprofen first and avoid getting it done during PMS or your time of the month because it could increase the pain you feel. Remember to sit still and avoid flinching because you could end up with bald patches.
  2. If you’re new, ask your specialist to guide you through the process. This can help you and your specialist give you the best treatment possible. Then they won’t assume you know what to do and you will know what to expect.
  3. Don’t wear makeup or you’ll smudge it everywhere.
  4. Keep in mind you might start sneezing or get watery eyes, just because they are working on such a sensitive area.
  5. Let them know what style of brow you are looking for and what you want out of the treatment before they start or else you could end up with something you don’t want. They may ask you if you want your brows trimmed after the threading. This is optional, but it does make your hairs much neater. However, if you have very thin brows to begin with, you might want to skip this.
  6. Ask for tweaks when they’re finished if you’re not happy.
  7. They may ask if you want some aloe vera gel to reduce redness and stinging. Say yes, especially if you want to tone down on redness. The redness could last up to an hour after your treatment.
  8. Sometimes you’ll get a little massage as you get your eyebrows done! Sign me up!
  9. Normally, they ask you to come back every six weeks to maintain your new fabulous brows!
