Makeup tutorial: Don’t be afraid to shine with this season’s Glitter Tears
I personally adored Burberry’s latest catwalk look when model Fran Summers sashayed down the runway as if she owned the place. Through applying a subtle amount of black and gold glitter down the side of her cheeks, she accentuated her eyes and transformed her whole demeanor.
Follow this makeup tutorial in order to achieve the same creative & sparkly look.
First, start by applying a light shimmer eyeshadow. Smudge a darker shade of your chosen color palette, into the crease of the eyelid. Continue to apply a lighter shade directly underneath whilst blending the two shades together. Add a much darker shade (something like a deep purple) to the crease, this time ensuring to cover the whole width of the eyelid. Apply a flash of sparkle with a glittery eyeshadow to the eyelid. Blend all of these together, adding darker shades where you feel you need more definition. Now that we have the eyeshadow complete, it’s time to transform the look with what Instagram is calling ‘glitter tears’.
Above all else, the most important thing to use is a glitter adhesive so that the glitter holds in place. After this, start by dabbing a small amount of silver glitter to use as the base coating. Little by little, gradually add a very small amount of the colored glitter until you have the aspired look. There is a whole spectrum of glitter makeup available on the market today from actual glitter to eyeshadow, powder, gel, sequins, the list goes on. Whichever you opt to purchase, it is crucial not to apply too much at once because otherwise, the look will turn out to be more RuPaul’s Drag Race than catwalk worthy. Finish the look by gently dabbing glitter onto the eyelid, and a bold lipstick similar to that of my own personal favorite.
Other makeup tutorials if you desire a more subtle look
As we all know, things do not always turn out as expected. I myself have followed many makeup tutorials and the finished look does not look anything like it should. For instance, if this happens after you have followed this makeup tutorial then do not worry! There are certain products on the market which I recommend to you. These will provide a much more understated subtle look but are far easier to apply. Here are some of my ideas:
- When in doubt, add a dramatic red glitter lipstick to your look
- Swap your regular black mascara for a pink glittery one
- Simply, add only a smudge of glitter to the corner of your eyes.
